Celebrated New Year at Jodhpur-The City of Magical Blue

After the visit to Jaipur & Ajmer, I became more thirsty to see the other parts of Rajasthan through my naked eyes especially Jodhpur; the city of magical blue. So when I got the opportunity to celebrate the very first day of the year with those blue-painted houses & the charming fort I could not miss it.

Mandor Express reached the exact time Jodhpur on the first of January. As per booking I and my family checked in the hotel Ghoomar (RTDC) & begin our journey to explore the city from there. Jodhpur has a history of war, romance and valour at the border of the great Thar Desert to savour the vibrant colours of life of the second largest city of Rajasthan, Jodhpur is an apt destination. The city is also known as the Blue city due to the blue-coloured houses situated in Jodhpur. Founded by Rao Jodha, the leader of the Rathore clan, in 1459 AD. The cleanest city was built to serve as the new capital of the Rathore kingdom, Known as Marwar (the merchant people under this city called Marwari). Gaj Singh the recent king of Jodhpur maintained the charm of history as before & started to modernize the city with high rises & luxurious hotels.

About Jodhpur

Blue City, or Jodhpur, is the second-largest city in Rajasthan. Rao Jodha founded Jodhpur in 1459. The city of Jodhpur, or Jodhpur, is the second-largest city in Rajasthan. Rao Jodha founded Jodhpur in 1459. It bears his sole name. The name certainly fits because most of the buildings, including the forts, palaces, temples, and even residences, are constructed in striking blue hues. The old city and the new city are the two halves that make it up. With its eight gates leading out of the citadel, Mehrangarh’s enormous, commanding fortress dominates a rocky slope. The cleanest city was built to serve as the new capital of the Rathore kingdom, known as Marwar (the merchant people of this city were called Marwari). Gaj Singh, the last king of Jodhpur, maintained the charm of history as before and started to modernise the city with high rises and luxurious hotels.

Must-see sights in Royal Jodhpur

The city of Jodhpur is a famous tourist destination owing to its royal heritage. Places of tourist interest in Jodhpur include a clean & massive fortress, striking cenotaphs and spectacular gardens. Besides forts and palaces, the House of Mandodari also situated in Jodhpur can be a major attraction for travellers. Some of the famous attractions in Jodhpur are as follows:

View the blue city from the roof of Mehrangarh Fort:-

Complete city view from the fort

The Mehrangarh Fort, one of Rajasthan’s biggest forts, is situated 400 feet above the city of Jodhpur. The Sun god, from whom the Rathores claim origin, is honoured in the fort’s name. The most famous and popular landmark in the city is the Mehrangarh Fort. Its size is impressive, and there is a museum with collections of palanquins, furniture, cannons, paintings, and traditional musical instruments that are on display. One of the best collections of miniature paintings from the Mughal era is found at the Daulat Khana, a gallery within the museum. I’ve visited the fort’s Chamundi Devi temple. For its sheer magnificence, it’s a must-see for anybody arriving in Jodhpur.

The stunning view of the entire city of Jodhpur from the fort was amazing, the houses were painted blue, and the city palace view from the top of the fort was totally worth it!!!

The fort was not as crowded at that time and most of the tourists were local people from Rajasthan or foreign tourists.

Cherish the historic memories with Jaswant Thada:-

A magnificent white marble monument known as Jaswant Thada honours Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. To honour his father Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, Maharaja Sardar Singh constructed Jaswant Thada, often known as the “Taj Mahal of Marwar.” A marble stone with exquisite carvings gave the main cenotaph a temple-like shape. This lovely cenotaph is flanked by the serene lake Devkund and a tranquil garden filled with the chattering of various birds. Numerous miniature cenotaphs in the shape of temples serve as evidence that members of the royal family slept soundly. Worth visiting the location and rediscovering old memories.

Mandore Garden proved that Epic Ramayana exists:-

I found exactly the same at Mandore garden with a charming collection of temples, cenotaphs and high rock terraces that I thought. A cool breeze was blowing like a sizzling style in the garden. There can be no better place for people seeking peace than Mandore Garden.

Before visiting Mandore Garden I was thinking that this garden is famous for its beautiful view along with 33 crores of temples but after been this place I was stunned to see that this place is actually the birthplace or maternal home of Mandodari the wife of the eternal villain in Epic Ramayana: Dasabhatar Ravana. Everyone knows about Ramayana; the war between Lord Ram & Ravana. So when I visited the palace of Mandodari & her father May Danava I really flattered.

Umaid Bhawan Palace is the pride of Royal Rajasthan:-

In my personal view among the world’s largest private residences, Umaid Bhawan Palace is located in Jodhpur in Rajasthan. The palace has been divided into three wings – the museum, the residence of the erstwhile royal family of Gaj Singh and the heritage hotel. The palace is also known as Chittar Palace due to the extensive use of Chittar sandstone and its location on Chittar hill.

If you wish to visit Blue city I suggest you visit the place from October to March.
