Take your Parents Here ❤️ The Sas-Bahu Mandir, Sas-Bahu Temples, Sahasrabahu Temple, is an 11th-century twin temple in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India. The temples were built by King Mahipala according to an inscription found inside the portico. There are two popular legends associated with the Sas-Bahu Temple. One legend states that the larger temple was built by a king for his queen, who was a devotee of Lord Vishnu. When the queen died, the king's son built a smaller temple next to it for his wife, who was a devotee of Lord Shiva. Hence, the two temples are known as the Sas-Bahu Temple, which means "mother-in-law and daughter-in-law temple." Another legend states that the larger temple was originally known as the Sahastrabahu Temple, which means "temple of the thousand-armed one." This is because the temple was dedicated to Lord Vishnu, who is often depicted with a thousand arms. However, over time, the name of the temple became corrupted to Sas-Bahu Temple. Both temples are richly decorated with sculptures and carvings. The Sas temple is particularly notable for its intricate carvings of Hindu gods and goddesses, as well as its geometric and floral motifs.
